In compliance with the strategies to handle the humanitarian situation reported in the Catatumbo region, and accompanied by the Governor of Norte de Santander, the first distribution of humanitarian aid to approximately 3,000 people was carried out.
North de Santander. On this occasion, the aircrafts of the Aviation, Mobility and Maneuver Battalion No. 2 of the Second Division of the National Army, transport the aid that were managed through the Secretary for Victims issues of the Government of Norte de Santander. In a permanent accompaniment of the Army and the National Police, they will solve some of the needs of the population hit by the intimidation of organized outlaw armed groups, who systematically have transgressed the tenets of the International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
In this way, the communities of San Calixto, Hacarí, Ocaña and Tarra, have received humanitarian support, achieving to date the distribution of approximately 2,500 kilos of aid represented in foods such as rice, coffee, sugar, oil, among others. During the next few days, the distribution of humanitarian aid to the Barí community will continue, as well as in the village of San Martín de Loba in Sardinata and El Refugio de Ocaña, to complete 4,500 kilos throughout the department.
In the same way, the Unified Command Post, in the Metropolitan Police Command of Cúcuta, with the participation of the National Army and Government institutions, conducts a permanent monitoring of the progress of the measures. In addition, there is the strategic implementation of the safety and control roads operations for the caravans that contact Cúcuta-Tibú-Cúcuta, maintaining security in the urban perimeters with the presence of more men, guarantying the transit in normality.
