Bogotá. On the occasion of the celebration of Independence Day, this July 20, an imposing military and police parade will decorate the streets of Bogotá and the main cities of the country.
This Friday, July 20, 2018, at 10:00 am, Colombia will celebrate 208 years of Independence with the traditional military and police parade which will be attended by more than 12,000 soldiers from land, sea, river, air and police members of Colombia, who have become heroes of the country throughout history and who have contributed permanently to the progress and development of the country.
In Bogota, this impressive parade will make its way through career 68, up to the 80th street, ending at the Military School of Cadets "José María Córdova".
The parade will be led by the Heroes of the Nation, men who gave their all for the safety and well-being of each of the Colombians. They will be followed by 48 veterans of the war in Korea who will show their history along the 68th Avenue.
The National Army will have more than 9,000 men and women, it will have a historical block with the different uniforms that this branch has had throughout 208 years of history. Students from different training schools will parade and it will be a detachment of military vehicles, including Hummer, armored tactical vehicles, Badger vehicles, four M113 tanks and Buffalo vehicles.
For its part, the National Navy will have more than 1900 naval men and women and marines throughout the military parade, who will show the different capabilities of this branch. Within its detachments, there will be coastguard blocks, a block of historical uniforms, and among its vehicles there will be boats, underwater boats and a block of Special Forces.
At the same time, the Colombian Air Force will carry out an air show by the Bogota skies with its aircrafts KFIR, C-40, SR-560, C-30, AC-47T and H-12, helicopters H-15, H-18 and six Black Hawks. On land, about 1,200 military will parade up 68th Avenue.
The parade will be closed by the National Police showing its different capabilities including, canine guides, mounted police, vehicles and will end with the Police Aviation School.
