The Colombian Air Force, through the Air Combat Command No. 6, CACOM 6, in coordination with the National Center for Recovery of Personnel, CNRP, conducted the humanitarian aeromedical evacuation of a baby, 20 months of age, in critical condition, which urgently required medical treatment at a specialized hospital in the city of Florencia.
It is the second time that the CACOM 6 evacuates this patient. Last month of June the baby suffered pneumonia and had symptoms of epilepsy, so she was evacuated to the capital city in the department of Caqueta to receive medical treatment and being assessed by pediatrics.
Initially, the patient was treated at the Solano Municipality Hospital, but due to complications and limitations, she was taken by river ambulance along the Orteguaza River to the CACOM 6, where the crew of the Caravan medicalized C-208B Unit, reacted immediately and moved the minor.
During the flight, the medical staff verified the vital signs of the baby that traveled accompanied by her mother, transporting her stable to her Medical Service center at the Gustavo Artunduaga airport.
