A four-day-old baby with a serious bacterial infection in the bloodstream was transported in the medicalized C-208B Caravan aircraft of the Air Combat Command No. 6, CACOM 6, of the municipality of Mapiripán, in the Department of Meta, to the Apiay Air Base of the Colombian Air Force.
Due to the complexity of the clinical conditions of the baby who had symptoms such as fever and difficulty breathing, it was necessary that the Medical Service of the institution coordinated with the National Center for Personnel Recovery, CNRP in Spanish, the deployment of the medical aircraft to conduct the aeromedical transfer and prevent her health from becoming complicated.
The minor belonging to one of the indigenous reservation 'Jiw' received first aid by the doctor and military nurse of the CACOM 6, who stabilized her to continue with the antibiotic treatment required to combat this serious infection.
