The operation left five people captured and machinery confiscated valued at more than 700 million pesos; it was made in compliance with the strategy against environmental crimes.
With four dump trucks and a retro excavator, five individuals were caught conducting illegal extraction of mining deposits, in the Juriepe sector, municipality of Puerto Carreño (in the department of Vichada), during a coordinated operation conducted by units of the National Navy and the National Police.
The operation was carried out 75 kilometers of the urban area of Puerto Carreño, exactly in the lands known as 'Finca la Candelaria and Santa Sofía', where men of the Marine Infantry Battalion No.51 of the National Navy, the Criminal Investigation Section, members of the Environmental Police, the Guides and Carabineros Group of the Vichada Police Department, as well as Corporinoquía officials, found four dump trucks and a backhoe, which were conducting illegal exploitation of the soil and illegal extraction of filling construction material, known as 'soil cement' damaging, approximately 12 hectares of the region, causing irreparable damages to the environment.
The five Colombian individuals were captured and put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office, where they will be prosecuted for the crime of illegal exploitation of mining deposits and other materials. On the other hand, the machinery found has a cost of over 700 million pesos, which significantly damages the finances of criminal organizations that profit from this crime.
