A joint and coordinated operation conducted by units of the National Navy, troops of the National Army and men of the National Police, results in the capture of three individuals and the discovery of 30 packages with marijuana, in the hamlet Casuarito, municipality of Puerto Carreño, in the department of Vichada.
The events were reported in the commercial sector of the hamlet, when the troops stopped a truck, with three men on board, transporting about seven tons of merchandise. At the time of inspecting the cargo, the troops found inside food bags, several hidden packages that contained a substance similar to marijuana.
The vehicle, together with the merchandise and the packages, were moved to the municipality of Puerto Carreño, where members of the Criminal Investigation branch of the National Police confirmed 14 kilograms of marijuana, with an approximate commercial cost of 20 million pesos.
According to intelligence information, it is presumed that this alkaloid would go to groups that perpetrate micro-trafficking, in the border area. With this finding, about 7,035 personal doses will not be distributed and marketed in Vichada, damaging the finances of the Organized Armed Group ELN.
The vehicle and merchandise were valued at more than ninety million pesos ($ 90,000,000). The three individuals, including a man of Venezuelan nationality, were captured and put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office, where they must answer for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
