Products such as chili, blueberries, vegetables, coffee, desserts, ruanas, handicrafts, beauty products and many more were the protagonists of the Fair “Building Rural Development” that took place in the Plaza Juan de San Martín in the municipality of Aquitania, in the department of Boyacá.
The regional producers that participated in the peasant market and the commercial showcase, presented their work and products to about 1,500 people and visitors during the event.
In the same way, they had the opportunity to hold a meeting with representatives of the Rural Development Agency and the professionals of the “Fe en Colombia” program, to present their main needs and to hear about the 18 lines of operation of the program, from which they will now be able to benefit through joint work.
Juan Antonio Urbano Barrera, Boyacá cocoa grower, said: "In my 24 years (of life) I was Emerald businessman and for 12 years I worked in the mines. Due to the things of life, I began to plant illicit plantations with 10 hectares of coca. In 2005 a group of peasants decided to look for other alternatives and we found a State that supported us and today we are many families that gave the step from illegality to legality.
Today, after many years we testify that it is worth promoting legality hand in hand with institutions. These days they have appointed a person from our region to head the Rural Development Agency and this will surely help us a lot, it will lead us to have much more access to the services of the agency and now with the articulation of the Fe en Colombia program, it is going to be much easier. "
During the event, cultural activities were in the same way carried out, a playful activity for boys and girls and also the community enjoyed two nights of Cinema in the Park as well as distribution of presents.
