One dead man and seven captures in military operations in Caquetá
In recent hours, in a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Military Forces and the National Police, it was possible to neutralize José Nencer Salgado Aragón, known in the world of crime as 'Chamo', main ringleader of the Residual Organized Armed Group - Structure-62. In the same way six possible members of this organization were captured and a minor of age was recovered.
The operation was carried out thanks to the articulation of precise and exact information of intelligence of the National Police and the Military Forces, which took place in the village Mandalay of the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán, a place where the troops carried out an operation of aerial assault, after which a firefight took place against members of the GAOr E62; this operation was supported by the Colombian Air Force and the aviation of the National Army.
At the site, alias 'Chamo' died, six more individuals were taken by the authority for the respective judicial process and assistance was given to a minor who was in the place. At the moment of carrying out the urgent acts, it could be established that the dead individual was alias 'Chamo', head of the group of Structure 62 of that GAO-r.
José Nencer Salgado, alias 'Chamo', had a criminal experience of more than 30 years. He had entered the structure of the Eastern Bloc of the extinct Farc in 1988 as a guerrilla fighter and later became responsible for the finances of this structure in the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán.
In 2017, after the decision of his brother, alias “Rodrigo Cadete”, to abandon the peace process and go to the south of the country, this individual went on to command the finances group of this structure.
'Chamo' is accused of drug trafficking and extortion in the departments of Putumayo and Amazonas, especially in the area of the Colombian-Peruvian border, forced recruitment of minors for this structure and abusive sexual acts against minors who were part of that group.
Thanks to this neutralization the command and control of this criminal structure is hit, as well as the intentions to strengthen the armed structure in the departments of Caquetá, Putumayo and Amazonas; this GAO-r loses its capacity to collect finances from trafficking and commercialization of narcotics .
