The Air Combat Command No. 1, conducts the International Course of Air Interdiction. Currently it is carried out, with the participation of officers and non-commissioned officers of the Air Force of Guatemala, who receive the necessary knowledge to strengthen the Air Defense system of their country in order to be more effective in their fight against drug trafficking.
The School of the National Air Defense System ESDAN (in Spanish), where these students are currently trained, has conducted several basic international air surveillance courses for officers and non-commissioned officers from countries such as El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, training them to carry out operations to prevent, counteract, neutralize and reduce the operations of drug trafficking, defending the national airspace.
Thanks to the operation and knowledge imparted by the instructors of the Colombian Air Force, our country has managed to be recognized as a regional leader in the issues of air interdiction and the standardization of procedures in the fight against the transnational crime of drug trafficking in Central America and The Caribbean.
