With the purpose of carrying out an environmental project of reforestation and environmental education for the inhabitants of the region, the Infantry Battalion of the Navy No.33 of the Naval Force of the South carried out the sowing of 1,500 trees of the region in the municipality Las Mercedes, municipality of Solano, in the department of Caquetá.
This important contribution to the recovery of the environment was carried out in coordination with the Municipality of Solano, the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the South of the Amazonas (Corpoamazonía), the community action board and the rural school Las Mercedes, whose main objective was to reforest the banks of the Caquetá River.
This activity seeks to raise awareness and counteract the cutting and destruction of the environment that criminal organizations use for illegal mining or drug trafficking.
