Troops of the National Army in military operations against all the factors of crime in Bajo Cauca, in the department of Antioquia, in recent hours captured one ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo that commits crimes in Caucasia, in Antioquia's Lower Cauca region.
The action took place, when men of the Military and Police Campaign Aquiles received information of the Civic Participation Network that alias Costeño would be in the urban area of that municipality. It was there when they organized a special operation for their search and capture of the man who drove a motorcycle.
This individual has a criminal record of more than 19 years, starting in 2000 in the extinct AUC - United Self-Defenders of Colombia to later demobilize with the Bolívar Central Bloc in 2005. But his operations continued and he was part of structures of the Clan del Golfo in Tierralta and Montelíbano in the department of Córdoba, as well as Apartadó in Antioquia and currently in Caucasia.
This criminal would be involved in the planning and execution of the disappearance and murder of Clara Cecilia Araujo, 16 years old, and Enoc David Mercado, 17 years old, few days ago, in the Bajo Cauca region of Antioquia.
Alias Costeño, was found with a firearm with ammunition that he hid in a compartment of his motorcycle. After being presented in a hearing, he was put in a penitentiary.
With this result, the Francisco Morelo Peñate substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, which has been committing crimes in this area against the civilian population and the security forces, is heavily hit.
