In order to implement strategies that led attacking the critical social indicators and mitigate the most felt needs of the vulnerable population in areas that were a reference of the conflict; the Sixth Division of the National Army with the program Fe en Colombia, in coordination with the Mayor's Office of Puerto Rico, conducted an institutional activity to support development in the village of La Esmeralda.
This activity was led by the Special Energy and Roads Battalion No. 19 General Julián Trujillo Largacha with 814 services including medical services, hairdressing, institutional issues and recreational services. This activity counted on the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and Development No. 6 and benefitted the inhabitants of Montecristo and Cristo Rey villages, as well as the urban area, who attended the call as a demonstration of the consolidation of the territory.
One of the attendees was Luz Stella Arenas Penagos, who attended a similar activity the previous year and decided to return for the effectiveness of the medical checks. That activity led her to detect a health problem in one of her family members.
These operations are carried out in areas where factors such as the deficit in social investment and infrastructure were used by adverse forces to generate nonconformity in the community, today, with the leadership of the commanders of the tactical units, this effort mitigates unmet basic needs.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Dairo Nicolás Hernández, commander of the Special Energy and Roads Battalion No. 19 General Julián Trujillo Largacha, "In the frame of the Bicentenary Campaign Plan “Heroes for Freedom” the village La Esmeralda has a priority within the Horus Plan, to coordinate all the necessary supports for this community. "
With this, the Twelfth Army Brigade has carried out four development support activities in 2019, recovering the social fabric in the department of Caquetá.
