In order to protect the indigenous communities, an Angel helicopter of the Colombian Air Force was deployed to carry out the humanitarian evacuation of a member of the Embera Katío ethnic group, who had suffered a wound caused by a firearm.
Immediately the requirement was reported through the National Personnel Recovery Center, a helicopter of the Air Combat Command No.5 was sent to attend in a timely manner the wounded man.
A group of Special Air Forces provided security at the point where the helicopter landed, in the indigenous reservation on the rural area of Mutatá, bordering area of Antioquia and Chocó, where members of the community said to the crew the exact point to make the extraction of the patient.
During the flight the rescuers gave him immediate assistance, keeping his vital signs stable, until arriving at the San Vicente Hospital in Medellin to be treated by specialists.
Once again, the Colombian Air Force ratifies its commitment to the indigenous peoples, always with the aim of saving lives without distinction of race, color, creed or nationality, always working for the development and protection of the inhabitants.
