The activity is expected to benefit all inhabitants of the sectors surrounding the stream Quebrada Hato de la Virgen de Ibagué.
Under the slogan 'The day of the environment, cleaning the water sources of our country', around 200 volunteers joined in the Quebrada del Hato de la Virgen in order to collect as much waste as possible in the Jardín Santander neighborhood of Ibagué, following the campaign 'Get muddy to clean the water of our country', led by the company Bavaria SA with the support of our Bicentenary Heroes motivated by the recovery of the water sources of the department of Tolima.
"We are getting together for the environment, accompanied by important institutions such as the National Army through the Fe In Colombia Program, we are covering 1.19 kilometers of the path to the Hato de la Virgen water basin in Ibagué, at three points: the neighborhoods Buenaventura, Jardín Comuneros and Jardín Santander. The purpose is to clean up our environment of solid waste with initiatives such as the houses approach to promote environmental education, the management and collection of solid waste of the water basin and the social and institutional coordination. Through these managers we will work for a Colombia in peace with real facts", said Sebastián Zárate, delegate of the company InterAseo S.A.
It should be noted that the campaign has already been carried out in 14 cities in the country and it has counted on more than 6,000 volunteers.
The cleanup activity was conducted with the support of the National Army through the Fifth Division, Sixth Brigade, Support Command of Comprehensive Action and Development with its ground operations Battalion No.5, the Fe In Colombia team and the Support Battalion and Services for Combat No.6, as well as the Colombian Civil Defense, InterAseo, the Chamber of Commerce of Ibague, CEMEX and Home Center.
