Troops of the National Army in military operations, against the organized armed groups that commit crimes in Antioquia, captured two dangerous criminals suspected of being members of the Residual Organized Armed Group, substructure 36. In another action, it was possible to capture three individuals who, posing as members of the ELN had illegally detained 27 people demanding a millionaire amount of money for their freedom.
The first operation was reported in the urban area of Briceño, in the north of Antioquia, where with information of the Civic Participation Network, in a coordinated and inter-institutional manner with the Police and Prosecutor's Office, alias 'Totoy' or 'Chan' was captured. He would be according to the investigations the third ringleader in command in the Residual Organized Armed Group, substructure 36. He was very close to alias 'Cabuyo'. This individual is accused of managing the finances of the organization and was in charge of the planning and execution of criminal operations linked to drug trafficking in the area. Alias 'Totoy' was wanted for aggravated conspiracy to commit crimes, manufacturing of drugs and drug trafficking, extortion and kidnapping.
In another military operation, alias 'Jairo' was captured, accused of committing selective homicides. This individual, allegedly, would be associated with the death of Nora Luz Gaviria Henao, which occurred last May 5 of the current year. In addition to targeted killings and being a member of the armed part of the organization, the individual was in charge of the collection of money extorted in the hamlets and urban area of the municipality, intimidating the civilian population through the use of violence.
With these results carried out by the National Army, the Police and the Prosecutor's Office, the GAO Residual substructure 36, under the command of alias 'Cabuyo', loses two fundamental elements, being those who directed and executed illicit operations for the strengthening of the criminal group both militarily and financially, as well as being his trusted men.
In another event, in the village known as Trinidad de Santo Domingo, in Antioquia, thanks to the rapid reaction of troops of the National Army, it was possible to find and capture three individuals who had illegally detained 27 people in a farm. The individuals had in the same way demanded 100 million for their freedom. Thanks to information provided by the Civic Participation Network, the place was reached and after a firefight against the criminals, who pretended to be members of the ELN, were captured.
One of the bandits, who a few minutes earlier had attacked on the soldiers, got wounds and he was precisely helped by the military, who, respecting Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, took him to a health care center to receive medical assistance.
In this event two rifles, two pistols, stun grenades, ammunition, explosives and communications equipment were found by troops. They were in the same way found with scarves of the Eln. These three individuals must face charges for the crimes of extortion and kidnapping.
