San Andres. With the premise "United for the Archipelago", the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia, thanks to a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional work with the General Maritime Directorate, the Caribbean Air Group of the Colombian Air Force, the National Police, the Departmental Governor, the Professional Officers of the Naval Reserve, the Association of Baptist Chuches, the Red Cross, the League against Cancer, the Civil Defense, the agency On Vacation and Agua Works, could benefit 544 inhabitants, including children, adolescents and adults, in a Development Support Activity, carried out in the sector La Loma, in San Andres Island.
After more than five months of planning and with the participation of specialists in the field of general medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, pediatrics, optometry, family medicine and vaccination, the island community and native people (Raizal) thanked the Navy of Colombia, as well as each of the participating institutions, for the more than 80 job opportunities provided in the hotel sector, the 200 oral hygiene kits, refreshments and recreation that contribute to the social development of the insular region, strengthening ties of partnership and cooperation among the community , the State and the institutions.
An event prior to this Development Support Activity, with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, in the framework of the celebration of the Day of the Fisherman and Seafarers, a playful activity was carried out aimed especially for 90 rudimentary fishermen and their families, reaffirming the commitment to the wellbeing of the island and Raizal community and the preservation of the historical fishing rights of the Insular region.
It is worth mentioning that this activity in the same way became a space for dialogue with the inhabitants of the community and the participating institutions in order to structure productive and environmental proposals that led, the medium and long term, to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.
