Colombia, as a member of NATO, will soon carried out agreements for the strengthening of cybernetic matters, hybrid matters, construction of good integrity and maritime cooperation, among other associated programs to strengthen the capabilities of the Colombian Military Forces.
The announcement was made by NATO's deputy secretary for political affairs, Alejandro Alvargonzález, during the presentation of the report sheet of NATO's visit in Colombia to follow up the country's progress as a partner. He said that NATO shares with Colombia "a values system based on the rule of law seeking peace, security and prosperity of all citizens and fight global threats."
Regarding the participation of Colombia in operations with NATO, such as the fight against piracy in the Indian Ocean in 2015, he said that "Colombia is a partner with much to contribute in a context where uncertainty at the global level more and more present."
For his part, the Minister of Defense, Guillermo Botero, said that Colombia is the only country that has the status of a global partner of the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO - which was signed in 2017 - which helps the country to deal with Greater strength global threats.
"Thanks to the road map of cooperation with NATO, we have taken advantage of the different instruments to significantly improve our capabilities towards the future," Minister said.
