Nine crew members of the rudimentary ship 'Underpressure', were rescued 20 nautical miles north of the island of Providencia by the missile frigate ARC 'Caldas', which is sailing under the guidelines of the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia, exercising sovereignty, safeguarding human life at sea and protecting sea resources and historical fishing rights in the insular region.
After an emergency call by this Colombian rudimentary ship, that reported being adrift due to failures in its propulsion system, the sailors of the Colombian Navy came to the rescue of the nine people of the crew, who said having drifted for three hours. Subsequently, the motorboat was towed by the ARC ‘Caldas' Missile Frigate to Providencia Island.
During the course of the year, the Specific Command of San Andrés y Providencia has rescued 55 people in the middle of search and rescue operations.
