As part of the commitment of the Naval Institution to contribute to the development and prosperity of vulnerable communities in the Colombian Caribbean, for more than five days, men and women of the Caribbean Naval Force with the support of civil authorities, representatives of leagues and foundations such as Together Smile (Atlanta - USA), Lions Club of Crespo, Arturo Calle, Order of Malta and Provident Dental Clinic, as well as staff of Professional officers of the Reserve of the Mission Support Command of Cartagena and Barranquilla, crossed rivers and seas to reach the Alta Guajira region, bringing with them basic medical services, training, donations of non-perishable items and presents for children, adolescents and adults.
On board the Ship ARC "Golfo de Urabá" the personnel and donation materials required to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Guajira Peninsula were transported.
Thanks to the coordinated work, it was possible to provide the medical services of general medicine, as well as training in self-care, environmental protection and prevention of endemic diseases, among others.
Among the items donated to the community, there were, in addition to gallons of water and non-perishable products, about 5300 items of basic use, including footwear, clothing, fabrics, jewelry and 2200 units of toothpaste.
