In the municipalities of Calamar, Miraflores and El Retorno, in the department of El Guaviare, antipersonnel mines, explosive devices and gas cylinders, among others, were found. These elements would have been used to carry out attacks against the troops and the inhabitants of this region of the country.
Troops of the Twenty-second Jungle Brigade, of the Fourth Division of the National Army, during operations carried out in a rural sector of the municipality El Retorno, in the department of Guaviare, found more than 1,000 7.62-caliber cartridges that were hidden in a wooded area; they would belonging to the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, First Structure.
In addition to this, the soldiers found another clandestine hideout with 120 antipersonnel mines in the Agua Bonita village, Calamar municipality, in in the department of Guaviare, which in the same way belonged to this criminal structure, which would have directly hit our men who carry out operations in these areas of the department. These elements were destroyed under controlled conditions by the EXDE anti-explosive groups of the National Army.
In the same way, thanks to a rapid joint military operation with the National Navy, the discovery and subsequent destruction of 3 improvised launching means and 7 gas cylinders loaded with explosive material was possible in a clandestine hideout in the village El Triunfo, in the municipality of Calamar.
Finally, in the sector known as La Guarapa, in the municipality of Miraflores, in the southern department of El Guaviare, troops of the Jungle Battalion No. 51 General José María Ortega destroy unexploded ordnance (MUSE), a grenade caliber 81 millimeters, and a powerful improvised explosive device, thus preventing terrorist operations against the military and civilian units that constantly travels through this area.
