The Ministry of Defense and the General Command of the Military Forces, through the General Directorate of Military Health, strengthen training and protection measures against the increase in confirmed cases of the Covid-19 Coronavirus in Colombia.
Given the declaration of emergency throughout the country by the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, and following the policies and guidelines of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Defense and the General Directorate of Military Health, training and protection measures have been strengthen against the increase in confirmed cases of Coronavirus Covid-19 in Colombia.
The Health System of the Military Forces and the National Police issued the guidelines for the containment phase that are being implemented in the Security forces units. Both military and civilian personnel have received useful information on prevention, emphasizing in the constant washing of hands and the adequate ventilation of the work offices.
In addition to these efforts, personnel in the theater of operations and border areas have been instructed to identify respiratory diseases or possible contagion of coronavirus. The recommendations are aimed at the prevention and early identification of symptoms to prevent the spread of the disease.
Military in ports, airports and land border crossings areas where there is a large transit of people due to their job conductance, must strengthen surveillance, individual protection, information campaigns on how to reduce general risk and also measures for identification and management of symptoms.
The military rescuers and medical teams of the Military Health Establishments, distributed throughout the national territory, have been duly informed about the disease, isolation and treatment, following the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
Some of the measures and guidelines were established for the evacuation of patients with symptoms taking into account biosecurity care.
