Bogotá.- Regarding the situation in the rural area of the municipality of Convención, Norte de Santander, where a citizen died in events that are subject of investigation, it is necessary to reiterate:
1. The interdisciplinary commissions of the Second Division and the General Inspectorate of the Army were delegated and immediately went to face the situation, have been diligent and have informed the corresponding preliminary findings. This information and all that can be collected, will be subject of investigation.
2. The personnel involved was taken from the military unit to facilitate the work of the judicial authorities.
3. The National Army, guaranteeing transparency and truthfulness, since the very moment it knew the situation, has given absolute support to all authorities for the effective development of their investigations, based on the principle of harmonious collaboration of the institutions of the State.
4. Once the results of the investigation are known, the collaboration with the authorities will be maintained so that they can carried out the operations that may take place.
The actions of the members of the National Army takes place in the framework of the Colombian Political Constitution and Law, respecting the International Law of Human Rights and in compliance with International Humanitarian Law. Therefore, the Institution will make the decisions that correspond in law, if the actions of a member of the military forces is not consistent with all the above.
