Men of the National Army and its Fe en Colombia program, in coordination with the governor of Tolima, the Rural Development Agency, the Chamber of Commerce, social prosperity and the mayor of Chaparral, successfully conducted the first virtual peasant market in the municipality of Chaparral, which sought to activate the economy of the peasants of the region.

Yadith Romero Reinoso, participant at the event and representative of Asogritol, said: "this is a very favorable activity because we sell arracacha, coffee, cilantro and pumpkin. We grow them in the region and selling them here helps us recover a little financially, especially in this time of pandemic. Special thanks to the mayor's office and the National Army for thinking about us, the peasants."
After registering to offer, through social networks the price list of available products was spread, through a WhatsApp line orders were received. Soldiers of the Support Battalion of Comprehensive Action and development No. 5 and the Fe in Colombia team received the orders and made the distribution of these in the different neighborhoods of Chaparral.
At the end of the activity it was possible to sell and distribute more than 90 baskets of food that were distributed in all the districts of the municipality, a positive report being just a pilot project in the municipality. After the city of Ibagué, Chaparral is the first municipality to create a virtual peasant market.
Colonel Alexander Lara Olarte, commander of the Command of Stabilization and Consolidation Zeus, said: "it is fulfilling to report the materialization of an effort that has been made through the coordination with the different agencies of the State to meet all the challenges posed by the pandemic.
