After a security meeting with authorities in Casanare, in which he was accompanied by the military and Police High Command, the Minister of Defense announced a series of operations to strengthen security in this department.
The head of the Ministry of Defense announced a strengthening in the number of units, “the National Army will cover the peace route of Ariporo and Sacama with a platoon and will provide troops to operations. Three platoons will in the same way be added for the month of November in order to increase the number of units. Additionally, 20 hours of helicopter will be provided for operations."
The National Police will provide 20 units in two months to strengthen the number of units in the department and a section of the Mobile Squad of Carabineros will be maintained in the north of Casanare.
In the meantime, to counter extortion, the director of the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Extortion Directorate of the police, as well as the commander of the military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) will pay a visit to the department to coordinate operations against this crime and lead investigative operations.
Minister Trujillo said that the Colombian Navy will reactivate all its resources for the river group of combat in the municipality of Orocué.
Finally, the head of the defense Sector spoke about the threats against the mayor of the municipality of Monterrey, assuring that the efforts will be made to know the complementary measures of the UNP and the National Police to maintain his personal protection.
