Thanks to the intelligence and monitoring work of the Colombian Air Force, two illegal runways were identified at the service of transnational organized crime.
After the monitoring and control of different runways in the Alta Guajira, an operation against transnational organized crime was carried out, in which the Colombian Air Force, along with the National Army and the Attorney General's Office, disabled two runways used for illicit activities in the Alta Guajira.
During the operation, Security and Bases Defense personnel from Colombian Air Force and explosives specialists of the National Army reached the runways of Chiquinquirá and Huatpama, located in the of area Uribia, which were intended to be used by these transnational organized crime groups not only as collection points but also to send narcotics to other countries.
This result was possible after the work carried out through the monitoring of drug trafficking and related activities, deploying aircraft of the Colombian Air Force throughout the Caribbean, which led to the finding of these improvised tracks, allowing Military Forces to impact the illicit infrastructure and weakening the financing of transnational organized crime groups that harm the security of this sector of the country.
