UNITAS is the oldest multinational maritime exercise in the world.
After 10 days of naval exercises, with total success, culminated in Ecuador, the LXI version of the international operation UNITAS, in which the Colombian navy raised the name of the country, after the excellent participation of the ocean patrol boat ARC 07 de Agosto, in which its naval power was demonstrated.
13 warships and six aircraft from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, the United States and Uruguay, demonstrated their resources, level of preparation and training, during the training and international cooperation exercises that took place in Ecuador's international waters.
The ocean patrol boat ARC 07 de Agosto, attached to the Pacific Naval Force, participated in tactical maneuvers combined with artillery exercises, maritime interception, search and rescue, humanitarian aid and naval formations, demonstrating once again the excellent operating conditions of this unit and the high level of training of its crew.
During the operation led by the United States for 61 years, the navies participated with offensive and defensive exercises, maintaining interoperability between them, strengthening the maritime security strategy against the different transnational crimes that may occur at sea, in addition to reaffirming the bonds of partnership and cooperation.
The ship ARC 07 de Agosto arrived at puerto seguro in Bahía Málaga, where they were greeted by their families and companions, who gave a warm welcome to the ship and its crew.
“The objective of this operation was the development of naval exercises at sea, with partner navies, to strengthen the bonds of partnership with the participating navies. We had the honor of carrying out operations with 71 crew members of the National Navy, Naval Surface components, Coast Guard and Air Force, with excellent results for the National Navy and for Colombia, " said ship captain Wilson Andrés Monsalve Agudelo, Commander of the ship ARC 07 de Agosto.
