A reward of USD$28,000 was offered by the Minister of Defense, Holmes Trujillo, at the end of an extraordinary Security Council in Santander de Quilichao, Cauca, where he analyzed, together with the Army and Police high commands, the law and order situation due to the murder of four people and another one who was wounded in rural area of this municipality.
"To identify and capture the killers, a research mix team of the Technical Body of Research and the Unit of Identification, Finding and Prosecution of Perpetrators of Massacres of the National Police was formed, with the purpose of supporting the municipal Attorney’s Office in the research activities", said the Minister.
He also said that: "Drug trafficking is the enemy of the community and the main generator of violence in the department of Cauca. Organized Armed Groups engaged in this illegal activity are responsible for the massacres and targeted deaths in the north and south of the department."
To identify those responsible for the events in the Gualanday sector, village of San Pedro of the resguardo Monchique Los Tigres, the Military Forces and the National Police activated a special plan to combat drug trafficking and organized armed groups that commit crimes in Algeria, El Tambo and López de Micay.
"The goal is to neutralize the production and close the cocaine transport route to the Pacific. The detection and destruction of cocaine production laboratories will be increased", Trujillo said.
Finally, the head of the Ministry of Defense reported that in the municipality of Santander de Quilichao will start the pilot project Gran Diálogo por el Futuro del Cauca, in order to bring closer and improve the confidence of ethnic and peasant communities with institutions and Military Forces.
