These individuals surrendered together with their nuclear family and are eligible for the benefits granted by the National Government.
In the context of Operation Simón Bolívar, under the pressure of the troops of the Fourth Division of the Army and intelligence work carried out by this unit, two individuals, who would belong to the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN surrendered at the military base Neblinas, in Puerto Gaitán, Meta.
These men would be part of the north-eastern front Juan Fernando Porras Martínez of the GAO ELN, which commits crimes under the command of alias Richar, ringleader of the armed structure, in the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, seeking to generate unease in the community and the economic destabilization of the region.
These individuals would be exercising territorial control in the village of Versalles, in the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, and they would have contributed to the logistical support of the armed structures of this Organized Armed Group, which is located on the border with Venezuela. They would have been also be in charge of collecting extortion money from traders on the border and from foreign exchange dealers. At the time of their presentation, they were with their nuclear family and expressed to the soldiers of the National Army their intention to initiate a new life with their loved ones and to carry out activities within the legality.
Thanks to this operational result, the territorial control of the GAO ELN in the municipality of Versalles, in the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, is severely affected, as well as its finances from extortion to merchants in the urban area of the sector.
