More than 10 tons of cargo and personnel of volunteers of the Colombian Civil Defense were transported from the Military Air Transport Command CATAM to reinforce the efforts for the assistance of the emergency, social support and reconstruction of the islands of Providencia and Santa Catalina.
The humanitarian aid was unloaded at the Lieutenant Colonel Benjamín Méndez Rey Air Base, where it was received and given to government institutions and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management; such cargo consists of food kits, mats, tents and animal food.
In the same way, the aid will be transported by air by the Cassa -295 aircraft and by sea by the National Navy to Providencia.
In this way, the Colombian Air Force through military crews and aircraft will continue to transport humanitarian aid and personnel that contribute to the reconstruction of the island Department.
