Six alleged members of this group of the organized armed group, GAO - ELN, were captured and three minors were recovered.
Among those captured there is alias Carlitos, ringleader of this group of the front Ernesto Che Guevara, of the GAO ELN.
These captures neutralize the work of this gang in the Raposo River.
Units of the Colombian Navy in coordinated operations with the National Police and inter-agency with the Attorney General's Office, capture a ringleader and five alleged members of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN, in the Raposo River, in the rural area of the Buenaventura district, approximately 43 kilometers of the urban center of the port city.
The operation was carried out thanks to intelligence work in the El Bohío village, in the San Francisco Javier town, south of the Buenaventura District, where units of the Colombian Pacific Naval Force, in the company of officials of The Judicial Police carried out raids on several buildings, managing to surprise the members of this gang identifying them without putting their life or good physical condition at risk. During the operation was found war material and military accessories and three minors were recovered.
This group belonging to the Ernesto Che Guevara Front of the Western war front of the GAO ELN, carried out criminal activities in the area, specifically on the Raposo River, one of the main routes of drug trafficking mobility; it in the same way committed crimes with an illegal mining complex for the extraction of alluvial gold and carried out kidnappings and extortion against traders in the region; it was in the same way in charge of obtaining war material for the GAO ELN groups that commit crimes south of Buenaventura.
During the operation alias Carlitos he was captured. He has more than 15 years of criminal career, expert in the handling of explosives and in charge of controlling activities related to the drug trafficking chain and attacks against the Military Forces and the critical infrastructure of the State.
This individual started his criminal career in the Urban front Manuel Cepeda Vargas, of the extinct Farc, as an expert in explosives for approximately seven years, conducting hostile operations against military and police units in Buenaventura, later he came to the ranks of the GAO ELN starting as a base guerrilla, gaining importance by the operations perpetrated against the Military Forces in the municipality of Sabaletas and confrontations against the residual GAO Estructura 6, in the south of Buenaventura.
The dismantling of this group neutralizes the work of the GAO ELN in the rio Raposo, thus preventing their intention to expand and consolidate in the department of Valle del Cauca and take control criminal of the coastal area of the colombian Pacific, and also neutralizing the criminal alliance that this front would have with members of the Group La Local, who sought to increase the military capacity of these two structures to increase partnerships with other groups linked to the trafficking of narcotics. Those captured, the minors recovered and the material found were put into custody of the authority.
