As a result of military operations, troops of the National Army found important war material in the municipality Las Mercedes, Municipality of Sardinata, north of Santander.
From January to date, troops of the National Army have managed to hit the organized armed group, GAO, Pelusos, with the finding of abundant war material. In 15 months troops has damaged its armed arm with the arrested 103 of its members, among whom we have the first, second and third ringleader, and the submission to justice of three more members.
As part of the Esparta military and police campaign, troops of the National Army in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and interinstitutional with the Attorney General's Office, find an illegal hideout of important war material, apparently belonging to the organized armed group, GAO, Pelusos, in the municipality of Las Mercedes, Municipality of Sardinata, Norte de Santander.
After almost six days of monitoring three individuals, apparently members of this Cartel, who guarded the arsenal, it was possible to find the clandestine structure with a machinegun, six rifles, two MGL grenade launchers, two 9mm pistols and ammunition of different caliber, with which they intended to attack against the Military Forces and the inhabitants of Norte de Santander. The material was put into custody of the authority.
During 2020, this Gao Pelusos, has been severely damaged by the military forces with the finding of abundant war material, including are 57 long weapons and 43 short weapons. Thus, conducted by the months of January, February and March, the troops have dealt accurate blows, with the seizure of a machinegun, 7 long rifles and 27 short-range weapons.
According to a report made by the Second Division of the National Army, in 15 months, troops have hit the Organised Armed Group, GAO, Pelusos with the finding of two escort weapons 64 longrifles and 70 handguns, as well as the arrest of 103 of its members, including the first, second, and third ringleader, and the surrender of three more.
