As part of the military and police campaign Esparta, troops of the National Army in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and Inter-Institutional with the Attorney General's office, a structure of the organized armed group, GAO, Los Pelusos, in the municipality of Pan de Azúcar, in the municipality of El Zulia, in the Norte de Santander
The operation conducted by the Military Forces has neutralized the threat and countered decisively the operation and terrorist threat of the GAO.
The military operation, after the troops engaged a combat, left as a result two dead in military operations, three arrested, of which, two were injured and received medical assistance on the part of the military nurses of the military unit, ensuring the protection of Human Rights and in compliance with the provisions of International Humanitarian Law; in the same way, was arrested a woman of foreign origin, and was seized abundant material of war.
The arrested are accused of committing extortion, kidnapping and drug trafficking, and collect money to carry out the criminal activities that were intended to strengthen this structure which is weakened, both logistically and financially, by these decisive operations of the Military Forces; this group is attempting to reorganize and return to the areas that have already been recovered by the Army and the National Police.
The war material found corresponds to five rifles, one pistol, about 1,300 cartridges of different calibers and 26 magazines.
In the search, the troops in the same way found military accessories, Communications, a computer and a memory drive.
Those apprehended and the materials were put into custody of the authority to continue its process of prosecution.
