These illegal structures used for the processing of stolen petroleum, had inside rudimentary distillers and pools for the storage of petroleum, harming the water sources of the Catatumbo region.
Through the continuous development of military area control operations carried out to protect the strategic assets of the State, troops of the National Army, found in rural areas of the municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander, two illegal refineries, which would be part of the illicit financial system of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN, front Juan Fernando Porras Martínez.
The military operation aimed at neutralizing the theft of fuels, was carried out in rural area of the municipality Caño Victoria South, sector where the men of the battalion of ground Operations No.10, in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the prosecutor's Office, found the two illicit refineries.
In the same way, in the place troops found seven pools for the storage of stolen petroleum, three meters long by six meters wide, three distillation tower, a motor pump, an electricity generator, 12 plastic barrels, 710 meters of four-inch hose, 650 gallons of processed gasoline (Pategrillo), 306 meters of metal pipe, materials used to connect the refineries.
After this, the material was destroyed under controlled conditions by the EXDE explosives and demolition team, without any damage to the environment.
