In river control operations on the Amazonas River carried out by the Colombian Navy, a courier- ship was found, while sailing through the sector of Santa Sofia in the municipality of Leticia-Amazonas, with a cargo of contraband beer that would cost in $7,200,000 million pesos.
At the river checkpoint carried out by the Amazonas Coast Guard units, military personnel during the inspection to the ship La Ballena 2, found 2,400 units of beer. The carrier of the confiscated material could not justify the origin of the merchandise as he did not have legal support for it.
This contraband merchandise from Brazil was intended to be distributed in the Colombian market, damaging the regional economy of the department of Amazonas. The material was put into custody of to the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs.
