The Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Bajo Cauca, of the National Army, during 2021 has arrested five people for the crime of extortion, while it has obtained 11 releases of citizens who were kidnapped by groups outlaw.
In the course of military operations against extortion and kidnapping, the National Army and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, by means of a search, arrested the individuals known as Pirata, Niche and Cabo, accused of being members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Los Caparros.
Alias Cabo, who would be the second ringleader of the Virgilio Peralta Arenas structure, of the GAO Caparros, had arrest warrants against him for trafficking, manufacturing and carrying firearms, as well as for the crime of extortion in Cartagena and Caucasia.
In the same way, this individual would have participated in several homicides and extortions in the municipalities of Cuturú, Cargueros, Bijagual, Puerto Claver and Nechí, in Lower Cauca in Antioquia.
After several days of monitoring and intelligence work, the three individuals were caught in flagrante delicto during a search by members of the Military Forces in a house in the municipality of Cuturú, in the municipality of Caucasia, Antioquia.
In the same action, it was possible to discover a long rifle-type weapon, two short weapons, eight magazines, ammunition of different calibers, 27 grenades of 40 millimeters and communications equipment, which would be used to carry out violent actions against civilians and members of the security forces.
The three arrested were taken to the facilities of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Caucasia Sectional Prosecutor's Office, and put into custody of a judge, who, according to the antecedents and the material evidence, sent them to prison in Caucasia and Medellín.
This operation was carried out in response to early warning 045 of the year 2020, issued by the Ombudsman's Office.
