In three operations carried out over the weekend, units of the Colombian Navy in the Pacific region in Nariño, together with the National Army, found and destroyed nine illegal laboratories used for the production of coca base paste, belonging to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-residual Bloque Occidental Alfonso Cano.
The operational deployment of the riverine combat groups of the Navy Brigade No.4, in the Mejicano and Colorado rivers, in the rural area of Tumaco, Nariño, led to the finding of the nine infrastructures that had the capacity to process about 2,500 kilograms of coca base paste (PBC in Spanish) on a monthly basis.
Inside, were found by troops 300 grams of PBC, 1,675 gallons of PBC in process, 459 kilograms of solid precursors and about 3,500 gallons of liquid precursors, which highly pollute with chemicals. During the process of preparation of the drug, they dump them indiscriminately in the soil and rivers, causing great damage to the environment. Different equipment and elements used to produce the narcotic were in the same way identified in the areas.
The nine laboratories were destroyed under controlled conditions by an Explosives and Demolitions Team (EXDE) of the Colombian Navy.
With these results, the residual Organized Armed Group, Bloque Occidental Alfonso Cano, which commits crimes under the criminal command of alias Allende, lost more than 2,500 million pesos. In the same way, one of the main links in the drug trafficking chain was damaged, since cocaine base paste is the main precursor in the crystallization phase of the narcotic.
Other results
In the course of security and military control operations carried out in the Bay of Tumaco and in the Iscuandé and Tapaje rivers of the Nariño coast, the river combat groups find two illegal ships, 1,329 gallons of liquid precursors and 10 kilograms of solid precursors, which would be used in the drug trafficking laboratories.
