To exchange new experiences and strengthen Resources in the fight against transnational crime, both nations hold an important meeting of the deputy ministers of Defense of Guatemala and Colombia since yesterday and for two days.
The delegation of Guatemala is headed by Deputy Manuel Eduardo Conde Orellana, president of the Foreign Relations Group of the Congress of the Republic, and Brigadier General Jerson Jovany Telón Ramos, deputy Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Guatemala. The Colombian delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Social and Business Group of Defense and Wellbeing, Carlos Andrés Ríos Puerta and the Director of International Relations and Cooperation Juanita Acosta Giraldo.
This type of meeting guarantees coordination to confront the world drug problem, strengthen military and police specialties, prevention and control different crimes and citizen security.
Among the subjects to be discussed by Colombia and Guatemala, through the Triangular Cooperation Plan – USCAP, with the Section of Antinarcotics Affairs and Implementation of the Law (INL), there are the strengthening of the Guatemalan Navy in logistics, legal support, river operations and organizational strengthening.
The visit of the delegation of Guatemala in the same way includes a tour by the facilities of Indumil, the Corporation of Science and Technology for the Maritime and River Industry development –COTECMAR - and the Corporation of High Technology for Defense-CODALTEC-.
Thus, Colombia makes available to the government of Guatemala all the Resources of the Defence Sector and the experience of the Military Forces and the National Police.
