Colombian Navy and Army strike at the first link of drug trafficking in the south-east of Colombia
A new blow to the structures of drug-trafficking, was dealt by the Navy of Colombia, last weekend, in joint operations and coordinated with the Army and the National Police in the departments of Caquetá and Meta, where it was possible the find 10 seedlings with 43,500 seedlings of cocaine and to arrest four individuals for the alleged crimes of conspiracy to commit crimes, and conservation or financing of plantations.
In the department of Meta, troops of the River Battalion No.32 of the Colombian Navy and Jungle Infantry Battalion No.19 of the National Army, during territorial and river control operations on the Guaviare and Guayabero rivers, near the municipality of Mapiripán, Meta, found and eradicated the 43,500 coca seedlings, whose average height were 10 and 20 centimeters, which would be used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Armando Ríos, which commits crimes in the region.
Immediately, the troops reported the finding to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office against Drug Trafficking. During the finding, no arrests were reported by the authorities.
In addition, troops of the River Battalion No.33 in a joint and coordinated manner with the Army and National Police, they arrested an individual on the road leading to the municipality of Albania and Curillo in the department of Caquetá. The man was driving a motorcycle that had 104 coca seedlings, in two sacks, approximately 100 kilograms, which were presumably planted by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Carolina Ramírez, in the municipality of Curillo, Caquetá. The man was charged with the alleged crime of conservation or financing of plantations, established in Article 375 of the Penal Code.
Additionally, in Cartagena del Chairá, Caquetá, the River Infantry Battalion No.31 together with the National Police, they arrested by court order three men known by the alias Edwin, Antonio and Rodolfo for the alleged crimes of association to commit crimes, invasion of an area of special ecological importance and damage to renewable natural resources. The individuals apparently belonged to the criminal network Amazonía VI and had close links to the residual Organized Armed Groups Miller Perdomo and Jorge Briceño Suárez who invade areas in order to plant coca and carry out extensive livestock.
