In the course of a combined operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Army of the Republic of Ecuador, it was possible to find and subsequently destroy an illegal camp that allegedly belonged to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, “Comandos de Frontera” that commits crimes in this region of the country and in the a rural area of the province of Sucumbíos in Ecuador.
The operation was carried out on the Mozoya sector, Santa Elena Parish, where units of the Army of that country, guided by intelligence information from the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, found the abandoned camp.
This illegal camp had the capacity to house about 40 people and was reportedly used to recruit minors of the region and indoctrinate them against their will. Inside the place, it was found war material such as machineguns, ammunition, improvised explosive devices, electric detonators, communications equipment, military accessories, medicines, belongings, among others.
The armament and equipment of military accessories were put into custody of the authorities, while the installations were destroyed.
