As of 2021, the Caribbean Naval Force through the Neptuno Counter-Narcotics Task Force has found more than 132 tons of cocaine hydrochloride.
In the operation against illicit drug trafficking carried out by the Colombian Navy in the subregion of the Gulf of Urabá, it was possible to find 3,891 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, apparently belonging to a structure associated with the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The illegal merchandise was found by units of the Coast Guard of Urabá, guided with information from Naval Intelligence, inside a container of export merchandise that was on a merchant ship and that would be ready to sail from the anchoring area Bahía Colombia in the municipality of Turbo, Antioquia, with final destination to Germany.
In total, 217 boxes with 3,901 rectangular packages were found by troops, which were transported to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where personnel of the Prosecutor's Office's CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Tests (PIPH), leaving positive for cocaine hydrochloride with a net weight of 3,891 kilograms.
It is estimated that the value of this shipment of drugs in the illegal European market exceeds 249 million dollars, money that thanks to the decisive operation of the units attached to the Caribbean Naval Force and the Neptuno Task Force Against Drug Trafficking, will not enter the finances of the substructures of the GAO Clan del Golfo that commit crimes in the subregion of the Gulf of Urabá.
