Units of the Colombian Navy in a joint operation with the National Army and coordinated with the Attorney General's Office, captured four members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the department of Bolívar.
The focused operation was carried out in a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional manner with troops of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion No.2 Nueva Granada of the National Army, river units of the River Battalion of Navy Infantry No.17 of the Colombian Navy and members of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), three men and one woman were arrested by means of a search carried out in the municipality of El Socorro municipality of San Pablo, Bolívar.
According to military intelligence information, the arrested persons were part of the Luis Alfonso Echavarría substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who were perpetrating extortion and controlling microtrafficking in this region of the country. At the scene, it was possible to find a 9-mm pistol, a 32-mm revolver, two 12-and 16-mm shotguns, 178 cartridges of different calibres, a pistol magazine, as well as a motorcycle and five cell phones. The four arrested and the material found were given to the Magdalena Medio sectional Prosecutor's Office, they will be accused for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying firearms and ammunition.
These arrests become an important outcome, achieving weaken the subsystem of logistics and armed, as well as the command and control of this criminal organization, hitting its capacity in the collection of money from extortions against inhabitants of the region.
