The Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police and the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), conducted six searches and raids on buildings in the urban area of Cartagena, where five individuals were arrested for the crime of receiving fuel and its derivatives.
In the morning, troops of the Navy Battalion No.12, accompanied by CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) personnel, carried out the search procedures, where they find 10,465 gallons of sea diesel and 208 cubic meters of wood, which did not have the corresponding documentation that will prove the use, possession and transport of the fuel. During the operation, four individuals were arrested.
Simultaneously, at a ground checkpoint in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Lorica - Córdoba, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre arrested an individual, who was apparently a member of the gang that commits crimes in the area; he was wanted by court order for the crime of receiving fuel and its derivatives.
Those arrested were given to the authorities for their respective prosecution.
It should be noted that sea diesel is used both in aquaculture according to the regulations established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and in commercial fishing, transport by sea and ports on the Colombian coasts and as fuel used in maritime activities carried out by the Naval Institution, according to established in Decree 1073 of 2015.
