In the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Tribugá and thanks to a coordinated work with the Mayor of Acandí (Department of Chocó), the Colombian Navy managed to extract and transport to the municipality of Turbo, 15 tons of recyclable waste that was accumulated in the municipality of Capurganá.
Due to the reduced space available to the municipality for the disposal of waste, the garbage dump collapsed, causing health problems in the inhabitants. That is why, after a classification process carried out by the cleaning company, the Mayor's Office of Acandí contacted the Colombian Navy to coordinate the transfer of the material to the municipality of Turbo.
The Naval Institution committed to the wellbeing of the society of Capurganá, moved to the municipality one of its units afloat in which materials such as cardboard, plastic, scrap and aluminum were evacuated, which were later distributed to a recycling company in Turbo for its final disposal.
The Community action Board and the Planning Secretary of Acandí expressed their gratitude to the Colombian Navy for this logistical support that contributes to the mitigation of the problem of environmental pollution and contributes to recover the natural beauty of this municipality rich in biodiversity.
