Through coordinated military operations, the National Army and the Police found a powerful arsenal of explosives, abundant war material and communications, which were hidden in a truck carrying fruits. According to initial information, the elements belonged to the Eastern War Front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO (in Spanish), Eln.
The operation was carried out in the municipality of Sácama, Casanare, where the troops, in a night checkpoint and after a search and inspection of the vehicle, they found more than 49,000 units of ammo caliber 7.62 mm, AK-47, about 900 electric detonators, 604 improvised explosive devices, two night vision goggles, 10 communications radio, and 10 systems to encrypt communications. This material would be used to strengthen and commit terrorist actions against civilians and security forces in this area of the country by the criminal networks of the GAO ELN.
The driver, according to the authorities, had a judicial record and had been arrested in 2006 for the crime of extortion. The material found and the detainee were given to the authorities for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying weapons and/or explosives and ammunition for restricted and exclusive use by the Armed Forces. The explosive material was destroyed in controlled conditions by the National Army experts.
