The Omega Joint Task Force command informs:
1. In development of the phase 14 of Operation Artemisa, carried out by court order, against the crimes of invasion of areas of special ecological importance, damages to natural resources and fires in the Serranía de Chiribiquete National Natural Park, within the framework of the law whose purpose is the protection of resources and the environment, a violent riot occurred against the public servants who carry out these actions.
2. According to the first reports, one person died in these acts, which are subject of investigation. In the same way, a soldier was kidnapped by those who irregularly live in this Natural National Park; this park was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO since 2018, so it has special protection under the Law and regulations in force.
3. The situation was immediately brought to the assistance of the judicial authority, which shall determine the circumstances of time, manner and place in which the events occurred.
4. The good physical condition of the soldier who was held violently is a responsibility for those who took him; it is demanded his immediate release. In the same way, it is urged to allow the pertinent judicial actions for the correct development of the proceedings.
5. In the context of this operation, two illegal infrastructures were destroyed and two individuals were arrested for their alleged responsibility in crimes against the environment.
6. It is important to mention that interference in the work carried out by public servants is contemplated in the law as a crime and in the face of these facts, the corresponding legal actions will proceed.
