The launching pads used by these drug trafficking Cartels are a silent and latent threat to communities in rural and urban areas of the municipality of La Gabarra, municipality of Tibú, Norte de Santander.
Through operations, troops of the National Army, reported the deactivation and destruction of five launching pads and a rudimentary gas cylinder-type ammunition, in the municipality of La Gabarra, Norte de Santander.
On March 14, there was an attack on the La Gabarra military base by Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the area. The launching pads were found by troops a few meters from a slaughter plant, peasant houses and in the fishing and sand extraction area of the Catatumbo River, which becomes a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian law that puts the civilians of the municipality at risk.
When these groups plant these improvised launching pads and leave their detonations at random, cause great anxiety and terror on the inhabitants of the municipality of La Gabarra, keeping them restricted in the daily activities, sheltered in their houses to prevent further damages or losses due to these devices planted by the terrorist groups, which converge in this region of Catatumbo.
It should be noted that, thanks to the timely reaction of our anti-explosive technical men, it was possible to restore tranquility to the citizens by proceeding to neutralize the elements, which if detonated at random would have caused serious damages.
