Units of the Colombian Navy and the National Army in development of a joint operation on the Atrato River, found and destroyed three laboratories used for the production of coca base paste in El Carmen del Darién, in the department of Chocó.
The troops of the Navy River Battalion No.16, attached to the Joint Task Force Titan found inside the structures 519 kilograms of solid precursors including chopped coca leaf, cement, lime, potassium permanganate, ammonium sulfate, coca paste base and 2,158 gallons of liquid precursors, as well as a scythe, three scales and three rudimentary presses.
The laboratories made using wooden structures allegedly belong to the Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.
The material that would be used for the elaboration and production of the narcotic drug along with the structures were destroyed in the area of operations in controlled conditions, in coordination with the Riosucio sectional Prosecutor's Office, department of Chocó.
