The Colombian Military Forces have intensified their territorial and river control operations in the sectors of Isla Mono and Playa Choncho, rural area of the municipality of Litoral del San Juan, department of Chocó, approximately 25 kilometers from Docordó, municipal seat of Litoral de San Juan, with the aim of protecting the civilians in this coastal area, after alleged clashes conducted by members of the Organized Armed Groups, GAO, Clan del Golfo against the GAO - ELN.
Once the facts were known, the Colombian Navy immediately deployed troops to the area, with the purpose of counter these criminal groups and prevent them from generating fear, displacement and confinement in this area of the country. In the same way, to the area where the confrontation apparently took place, officials of the Attorney General's Office were transferred in a Colombian Navy helicopter who carried out the removal of two bodies, apparently members of these Organized Armed Groups, who allegedly died during the clashes.
The Colombian Navy arranged a River Task Group Composed of a River Support Patrol Boat, a River Patrol Boat, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Pacific Coast Guard Command, a River Combat Element, in addition to a Navy Infantry platoon, and two detachments of the Unified operation Group for Personal Freedom (anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping group), who were accompanied by a platoon of the National Army and an aircraft that made constant overflights in the area, in order to work to improve security conditions and respect for the human rights of the ethnic communities of the San Juan Coast.
