Intelligence information provided by the Colombian Navy to the authorities of Ecuador, the United States, Mexico and Panama, led to the finding of 11 516 kilograms of illicit drugs during different maritime interception operations, framed in the international cooperation agreements in the fight against drug trafficking.
The first operations were reported in the maritime territory of panama, in the sectors of Chitré, Punta Mala Punta Jaque and San Carlos, where, thanks to the valuable information provided by the Navy of Colombia to the National Service air-sea - SENAN of Panama, with the support of authorities of the Joint Task Force Inter-agency of the Southern Command of the united States (JIATFS), they intercept four fast boats in which they transported 1 341 kilograms of cocaine and 1 090 kg of marijuana.
Simultaneously, four operations were carried out in the maritime area of the coastal cities of Ecuador, Salinas and Manta, where units of the Navy of that country together with the JIFTS authorities guided with information provided by the Colombian Navy, managed to find 3 684 kilograms of cocaine at the time when drug traffickers intended to take it out of the country aboard several ships to Central America.
These decisive blows are complemented by three maritime interception operations in the waters of Jalisco, Acapulco and Zihuatanejo, in Mexico, where the transit of four boats loaded with 4,893 kilograms of cocaine was interrupted, at the time when drug traffickers intended to enter the country with the shipments.
In Colombian territory, Units of the coast Guard Station in Bahía Solano, in security operations and maritime control operations achieved the most recent blow to the drug trade with the finding of 508 kg of cocaine, distributed in 17 sacks, which were found by troops to drift under the mode of planting in the sea, with which drug traffickers provide the coordinates of the place where they abandon the drugs to organizations, transnational crime, for later retrieval and traffic.
During these operations, 12 Mexicans, 04 Colombians, 04 Panamanians and 03 Ecuadorians were arrested.
