The Eighth Division of the National Army is fully prepared to work for the tranquility throughout the four departments and municipalities of responsibility.
It is a heavy security operation with motorized units, armored vehicles and aircraft in accordance with the operational Resources and logistics. The Eighth Division of the National Army will contribute to work for the conditions of security and law and order necessary for the free exercise of democratic rights and the normal development of the electoral process scheduled by the National registry of Civil Status, which is coming up next Sunday, may 29, 2022, where the colombians will be able to exercise their right to vote in all the national territory.
From this time, the National Army activated the Plan Democracy, a campaign with the troops where they work for security at the polling stations and roads in the departments of Arauca, Casanare, Vichada and Guainía, and the municipalities of Cubará, Pisba, and Paya in Boyacá, Samore and Toledo in Norte de Santander where they provide 324 checkpoints with 1734 polling stations.
On this occasion, the National Army will have the security responsibility of 213 checkpoints, which will have a deployment of 252 platoons with more than 8 thousand soldiers distributed in strategic points with the support of aircraft and motorized units. The troops have the constitutional mission of providing security by supporting the other authorities who have the same responsibility. This planning was established after different meetings with civil authorities, with the purpose of generating the necessary conditions to ensure the free exercise of suffrage by citizens.
The members of the Military Forces and other institutions will be ready to provide recommendations and will support the different situations that arise during this important day, to prevent any terrorist act that organized armed groups intend to carry out and in the same way prevent the inhabitants from being victims of crime.
